The Jewish Belief in the Messiah PDF Print E-mail
The Jewish belief in the Messiah is at the core of Jewish thought. Indeed, the twelfth of Maimonedes' Thirteen Principles of Faith was:
I believe with complete faith in the coming of Moshiach. And though he may tarry, I shall wait anticipating his arrival each day"
There are three Hebrew words which apply to the Messiah - Goel (Redeemer), Moshiach (Messiah) and Moshia (Saviour). In the Torah, Moshiach always means "anointed", and although this term is used in other contexts, it fits well with the idea of the Messiah being an anointed king.
The Jewish Belief in the Messiah is centered around different areas:
  • The Wars of Gog and Magog
  • The Messianic PredictionsThe Messianic Era
